I am really excited about this post because I LOVE homemade gifts for Christmas. There's always that one family member or friend that's so hard to shop for because they're either really picky or they already have everything! So why not make them something homemade which is way more thoughtful anyway?
Cue... the cookie mix jars!
Cookie mix jars are awesome because you can make a few of them at a time and you can really customize them if you'd like to. They also make for great house warming gifts as well!
If you decide to make them for a gift I made it easy for you! Here are the instructions for the cookies that you can print on a sheet of paper and tie with a ribbon around the jar.
All the receiver has to do is mix them with an egg and a stick of butter and vuola! The only thing to remember is that there are no preservatives (which is a good thing) so once the cookies are baked they only last a day or two before they harden. Once they harden, I just cut them into strips and turn them into Biscotti. They are SO good dipped in your coffee!
This jar/recipe is for Coconut, Chocolate Chip Oat cookies with Walnuts - I should probably come up with a shorter name for it huh?
1/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup 1-minute Quaker Oats
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup coconut flakes
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
All you have to do is layer the ingredients (in the order above) in a 32oz mason jar! If you have smaller mason jars just half the recipe. Just make sure you pack the ingredients down pretty tightly so that they don't move around too much.
